Academy starlets Joao Teixeira and Yusuf Mersin joined Liverpool FC community coaches at Pinehurst primary school in Anfield for one of the club's Truth 4 Youth assemblies.

Community manager Bill Bygroves and staff were there to communicate their seven key messages to the youngsters, covering a range of issues included anti-racism, anti-bullying and positive community action.

And the reserves brought along a special surprise for the schoolkids. The European Cup made the short journey from its permanent residence in the Anfield museum to the school, a couple of minutes up the road.

After an enjoyable sing-a-long with Bill, Teixeira and Mersin spoke about their footballing experiences, their roles on the field and how they were adjusting to life at Liverpool before Bill delivered the assembly.

And his first message for the young audience was 'Rule out the Racist'. Next was 'Ban the Bully', during which Mersin addressed the children about the importance of standing up to and reporting cases of bullying.

Next was 'Drop the Drugs' and Bill explained how drugs can ruin sporting careers and wreck lives. Then the children were told to 'Shoot Goals not Guns' and 'Say no to Knife Crime'.

The final message of the morning was simply 'You'll Never walk Alone' after which the children had their photo taken with the reserves and the European Cup.

The youngsters were also given a match programme as a memento of Liverpool's visit.

Forbes Duff, LFC's Kickz officer, attended the assembly and he explained to Liverpoolfc.tv the importance of the Truth 4 Youth scheme.

"It's vital for Liverpool FC to deliver these classes and promote the messages that we do in order to reach out to as many people as possible," said Forbes.

"The Truth 4 Youth is a great example of the club continues to work in the community and get the message to people of the city. It was a great day today and the kids really enjoyed it. Our hope is that they will take the messages Liverpool FC has given them today with them when they leave."
