After Liverpool confirmed they will take on Tottenham in a prestigious pre-season friendly in Baltimore this summer, we caught up with local supporters' club member Darren Rudham to gauge the mood within the American city.

The Reds will face Spurs at the M&T Bank Stadium on July 28 as part of their tour of North America presented by Standard Chartered. Three days before that, Liverpool will also take on AS Roma in Boston.

Tickets for the game against Spurs, which will kick off at 1pm local time, are now on pre-sale. Click here for more information>>

Here, LFC Baltimore's Darren tells us how local Kopites have responded to Friday's announcement, what travelling fans can expect from 'Charm City' and why he expects there to be an electric atmosphere for the game...

Darren, firstly what has the reaction been like to the news Liverpool will play Tottenham in Baltimore this summer?

I can tell you my email account and our Facebook page have blown up! We've been anticipating this for quite a while and we're all very much looking forward to it. There has been a fantastic outpouring from the supporters' groups over here - we can't wait.

What will it mean to you and the members of your supporters' club to have the chance to watch Liverpool play in your city?

Well, we're still trying to download and take in everything we've got going on in terms of the outpouring of support from people across our country and our supporters' group.

It's going to be a great occasion and it will mean so much to people to get a chance to watch Liverpool live. We're hoping to put on a couple of great events, not just for our supporters' club but also any other Liverpool fans travelling over for the game.

What can Liverpool fans expect from Baltimore?

Baltimore is an unbelievable football city. For both the women's and men's World Cup, Baltimore consistently got the highest TV viewing ratings across the country.

It's only a matter of time before we get our own professional football team here and I think people may be a bit surprised by how much of a sports town Baltimore really is. Away from sport, it has a lot of great sights...let's just say it's called 'Charm City' for a reason!

Tell us about the M&T Bank Stadium...

For the Chelsea versus AC Milan game here in 2009, all 71,000 seats were sold out. I believe it was the only stadium that sold out during (Chelsea's) entire tour that year.

It's a wonderful stadium and it's one of the newer ones in the country as the Baltimore Ravens (American football team) have only been around since the early 2000s. It has great amenities, there are great views inside the stadium, and it is right on the waterfront so it's in the heart of downtown Baltimore.

What sort of atmosphere will the LFC Baltimore members create?

I know the guys in Boston said they're going to have their own Kop, so we're going to try and match them or do better than that - we'll have our own Baltimore Kop!

As I said, the outpouring from people has been unbelievable and everyone is looking for tickets. The support has been amazing. We're expecting that we're going to get quite a few of our members going - and we're going to be loud!

Tell us about some of the activities the Baltimore Reds do as a supporters' club...

We get together to watch matches in two locations - the No Idea Tavern and the Slainte Irish pub.

We're heavily involved with the Craig Willinger Fund, which is a local charity that sends children with cancer overseas to watch football games around the world.

We're also friendly with the Arsenal supporters' group here and we have an annual tournament where we play against each other for bragging rights for the year. That will take place in June this year.

Does the fact we'll be playing another Premier League team in Tottenham add to the excitement?

From a personal point of view, I hope we hit them for five! It's been a while since we last beat them. In seriousness, we're all anxiously anticipating what should be a great game - and hopefully a great result.

Finally, what will your supporters' club be doing to welcome any travelling Liverpool fans into Baltimore?

As I said earlier, we have two places so what we're looking at doing is gathering at one of those bars on the Friday night. Then, because it's an early game on Saturday, we're looking to block off an entire street for a party.

We're going to have bands, tents and there are bars up and down the street - but home base will be at the No Idea Tavern early on Saturday. There will be special offers on food and drink and we're going to make it a real event.

It should be nice and warm in July, so for four or five hours before the game kicks-off hopefully we'll be able to have a great street party.
