NewsFirst LFC International Academy to launch in Thailand
Liverpool FC is excited to announce the latest addition to its growing portfolio of international academies with the opening of a new academy in Bangkok – the first time the programme has been available in Thailand.
This new long-term agreement sees the club continue to expand its youth coaching programme in a region with a passionate fanbase. LFC International Academy Thailand will offer a year-round development programme for girls and boys of all abilities, aged five to 16, to learn to play The Liverpool Way.
Players will have the chance to train under the tutelage of Liverpool FC coaches learned in the principles and methodologies that are at the centre of what is taught at the Reds’ world-famous Academy on Merseyside.
Through the unique coaching methods of LFC, players will learn to improve technical and tactical aspects of their game while learning key life skills centred on the four values of The Liverpool Way: ambition, commitment, dignity and unity.
Coach education will also be an important element. The implementation and development of the coaching programme will be overseen by an LFC lead coach, who will be based in Thailand to head up the project, with local coaches benefiting from a comprehensive coach education scheme, which will include the LFC International Academy global accreditation.
Ian Rush, Reds legend and LFC International Academy ambassador, said: “We’re excited to bring the first LFC International Academy to Thailand, a region where the passion for football and LFC is immense.
“The aim of our international coaching programmes is to provide the very best experience for young players. Alongside player development, coach education is an equally important aspect of the programme, which is why we introduce local coaches to the same philosophies and techniques delivered at our very own Academy in Liverpool.
“Both players and coaches will get the opportunity to develop their abilities on and off the pitch and do so through The Liverpool Way.”
Surasak Areesawangkit, CEO of Liverpool International Academy Thailand, said: “We’re very excited to be bringing LFC International Academy to Thailand. It’s a real honour and a privilege.
“The draw of LFC in Thailand is huge and LFC’s values really resonate here. Those values will help guide us in building something very special for our young players.”
LFC International Academy Thailand will be hosted at two venues starting later this year: Assumption College Thonburi and Assumption University of Thailand.
