InterviewFederico Chiesa reacts to Anfield debut: 'I enjoyed every bit of it'
The Italy forward made his home debut for the Reds by coming off the bench in the second half of Saturday’s victory, which was earned by Luis Diaz’s double and a goal from Darwin Nunez in the space of 11 minutes before the break.
And, when asked if running out at Anfield lived up to his expectations, Chiesa told Liverpoolfc.com: “Yes, yes, yes, it did! Hearing You’ll Never Walk Alone for the first time from the bench, it was amazing.
“It was amazing also against Nottingham Forest, but unfortunately we lost, but today was really amazing. I enjoyed every bit of it.
“I think I played seven minutes in Milan, I played not too much, but I was very, very happy to make my debut in Milan and today I just had to be ready and when the coach told me to get in the game I was so happy and so relieved because I wanted to play here at Anfield.”

On an excellent team performance…
Yeah, it was a big result for us. I think we showed a great performance today after a big loss against Nottingham Forest at home and today we wanted to show that we are a big team, a great team that wants to perform at the highest of levels.
On recording two superb wins this week…
We had a great result in Milan playing against a great team such as Milan and today we showed that we are a really good team and we have to keep on playing like this.
On Diaz’s display and general form…
He is playing really good but I think all the team has played really good today. Everyone has just performed so well and we needed to bounce back from a bad result against Nottingham and today we showed, as I said before, a great performance and Lucho scored a fantastic brace. But the team played so well today, everyone had a great game so congratulations to all.
On his first touch on Saturday being a shot on goal from distance…
Yeah, first ball! I saw the ball bounce and thought, ‘Why not?’ I was a bit unlucky. Then I hit the post but I was offside. I just came in and I wanted to help the team, run for the team and that is what I am here to do.
On whether he feels ready to get more minutes against West Ham United in midweek…
Yes, I am. I am training for that, I’m training harder, faster, I’m training to be ready to play, but this depends on the coach and when he wants me to play and put me in, I just have to be ready and play.
On ‘things going well’ for Liverpool, with the Reds winning four of their opening five Premier League games…
Yes they are, but the Premier League is really tough and we have also the Champions League, but we showed in the last game against Milan and then today we showed that we can have a good run in both of those competitions.
