LFC Women'Faye Kirby looks like she has been playing in the WSL for years'

Nineteen-year-old Kirby has stepped up between the posts for the Reds' last two outings, and Laws has been hugely impressed by her performances.

Speaking in the final LFC Women Show of the season, which is available to watch via LFCTV GO below, Laws said: "Faye has been excellent.

"Against Chelsea she had a worldie, and she did exactly what she had to do against Manchester City as well.

"For such a young 'keeper to play in the WSL against two established teams is brilliant and I am happy for her because she works so hard in training, I see it day in, day out, but going into a game it's totally different.

"After the Chelsea game I went up to her and said, 'Faye, you're frightening! You are 19 years old playing in the WSL against some of the best players in the world like Sam Kerr.' She just took it in her stride, and I think that's credit to her and the hard work that she has put in.

"I said to her, 'It's not easy what you've just done and you literally look like you have played week in, week out, and in the WSL for years.

"I think that is credit to her as a person and as a player because she wants to learn and I think that is so important. I'm still learning and I'm 32! So, she's got so much to learn but she wants to learn.

"I want to give her a shoutout and say well done Faye."

Also in the show, striker Leanne Kiernan talks about her impending return after being out injured since the opening day of the season.

The No.9 is now targeting full fitness and game time in the final two outings of 2022-23 ahead of the World Cup with the Republic of Ireland.

"It feels so nice to be back because I feel like I was always so far away from it, but now I can see the light," said Kiernan.

"It's just nice being back involved and in training because it's tough going in every day and all you are looking at is the gym and it's just like you are in a different time zone.

"It's probably mentally the most challenging season I have ever had, but it's nice to be back, I'm enjoying it, I'm feeling fresh and ready to go.

"My head is down and focused, I've got two games now, the World Cup is around the corner so what is meant to be will be."
