ReactionFabio Carvalho explains catalyst for stunning 9-0 win
Fabio Carvalho revealed how the genesis of Liverpool's stunning 9-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth came on Tuesday morning.
The Reds equalled their biggest ever win in top-flight football at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, claiming three Premier League points for the first time this season in astonishing fashion.
And speaking to Liverpoolfc.com post-match, summer signing Carvalho explained how the foundations for the performance and result were laid amid the frustration with Monday’s defeat at Manchester United.

On the relentlessness of Jürgen Klopp’s side’s display, he said: “Of course. From the game on Monday we knew what we had to do the next game to get the three points.
“It started from training on Tuesday where from the first moment training started I knew something was going to happen because of the mentality, the desire and how well we trained.
“I knew something was going to happen today but I didn’t think it was going to be the score it was.
“Hopefully we can build on that. The different goals just show the quality from each player and as a collective as well, which is the most important thing because a team wins games.
“Today we showed a good performance and that was shown through the goals.”
Luis Diaz, Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk gave Liverpool a five-goal advantage at the break, when Carvalho was introduced.
An own goal was followed by another from Firmino, a lovely, volleyed finish from Carvalho to open his Reds account and then a second of the encounter for Diaz.
Discussing the mindset of the players in continuing to push forward, the No.28 said: “The message was to just keep going and not drop our standards.
“Obviously from the second half onwards you could tell we wanted more and wanted more. The message from the more senior players like Hendo and Millie was to keep going and keep going.
“We kept going, stuck to the game plan and the result shows it.”

Carvalho leapt with delight in front of the Kop after expertly guiding his first-time strike into the bottom corner, from Kostas Tsimikas’ assist.
The Portugal U21 international dedicated the moment to the fans for the support he has received since swapping Fulham for Anfield in July.
“You can see from my celebration I didn’t really know what to do, I just jumped and I was just happy, celebrating,” Carvalho said.
“I just wanted to give the fans something back because they have helped so much since I’ve joined, they’ve shown so much love.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to show them how thankful I am with my performances and goals.”
