ReactionFabio Carvalho discusses Reds debut: 'Hopefully the first game of many'
The Reds were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United in a friendly in Bangkok on Tuesday to kick off their pre-season schedule.
Carvalho, an arrival from Fulham at the start of July, began the contest at Rajamangala National Stadium, playing the first 30 minutes in a central midfield role and striking the post with a close-range effort.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com post-match, the No.28 said: "From the first day in training and until now as well, this is what I've been working on – to try to get into the team.
"Today it happened and I was on the pitch with my new teammates and they have welcomed me so well. I'm just thankful to be here and hopefully next game we can put things straight.
"We have a winning mentality that starts in training and we take it into the games. We want to win at any cost and do our best to try to win every game.
"Today it was a bit of a bittersweet moment for me because obviously it was my first game for Liverpool and hopefully the first of many.
"No-one really likes to get beat, especially against United and the way we did, but I'm sure we will be working on the pitch to try to justify that the next time we play against them.
"I had the chance obviously and it hit the post. But next game I'm sure I will get a goal, and that's the mentality I have to go to the next game with."
Jürgen Klopp's side now head to Singapore for their second fixture of their Asia tour as they take on Crystal Palace on Friday.
Carvalho has been with the squad since the very start of pre-season and is already feeling at home in the set-up.
He continued: "Everyone has been fantastic to me. They've helped me every day and they keep doing so as well, which I'm thankful for. It's just a big family – it sounds a big cliché but that's how it is at Liverpool.
"When you play against one of the best teams in the country, you get punished if you make mistakes. So, we've got to make sure we correct our mistakes and just work from it. Hopefully next game we can put everything to bed."
