NewsExpedia offers free transport for LFC Women away WSL matches in 2023-24
LFC’s official travel partner launched the initiative last season and hundreds of supporters were carried to fixtures up and down the country in a special, branded coach.
And there is even better news for this season, as Expedia has committed to supporting a second coach, which will allow even more Reds to travel when demand is high.
The first game for the new coaches will be the WSL opener against Arsenal Women on Sunday October 1 at Emirates Stadium, for which more than 40,000 tickets have already been sold.
“The travelling coach was a brilliant initiative from Expedia last year and helped our supporters be with us every step of the way as we returned to the WSL,” said LFC Women manager Matt Beard.
“We saw them, we heard them, we felt them and it’s fantastic news that not only will it be continuing this season but will be expanding. We can’t wait to see the fans at the stadiums.”
Michele Rousseau, senior vice-president of global brands at Expedia Group, said: “It’s great to see interest in the women’s game continuing to grow, with more fans than ever looking to travel to away games.
“We were really proud to be able to offer free coach travel to Liverpool FC Women’s away fixtures last season and we’re thrilled to expand our efforts further this season.
“We’ll be adding a second coach to enable even more fans to travel across the country to follow the Reds, because we know nothing beats being there and supporting your team live.”
News of the expanded plans for the season ahead was warmly welcomed by Jay Goodall, chair of the LFC Women’s Supporters Club.
Goodall said: “Everyone loves the fact that we can travel round the country together. It’s that real family LFC atmosphere and creates new friendships among supporters which carry over into the home games, too.
“I think it’s brilliant that Expedia are making it so easy for our supporters to get to these away games, especially those who don’t drive themselves, and expanding to a second coach will give even more new fans the chance to follow the team.”
To book travel, fans must have a valid match ticket. Bookings on the coach can be made here. Bookings will be on a first come, first served basis.
The coach will be available to book for every away match outside Merseyside in the 2023-24 WSL season. See LFC Women’s fixture list here.
