The Three Lions were consigned to being runners-up for the second successive edition of the tournament after Spain edged the decider in Berlin on Sunday night.
Nico Williams’ clinical strike two minutes into the second half put Spain ahead, though England levelled courtesy of a placed effort from substitute Cole Palmer.
But an 86th-minute finish from Mikel Oyarzabal settled the contest, in which Alexander-Arnold and Gomez were both unused substitutes.
