NewsThe England debut coincidence linking Curtis Jones and Sammy Lee
By Chris Shaw
Liverpool’s No.17 marked his first senior international appearance with a deft flicked finish as the Three Lions won 3-0 away at Greece in the UEFA Nations League.
In doing so, Jones became the first Reds player to score on their maiden England outing since Lee did so back in November 1982.
By coincidence, Lee’s moment was also achieved in an away fixture against Greece.
Jones played the full game in Athens and was later voted Player of the Match.
