NewsEmma Koivisto previews season-opener at Arsenal and hails LFC Women's support
The Reds begin their journey in the 2023-24 Barclays Women's Super League at Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
Koivisto is hoping Matt Beard's side can enjoy another memorable start to a campaign, having defeated reigning champions Chelsea Women on the opening weekend last time.
The full-back told Liverpoolfc.com: "I think everyone knows that Arsenal is a good team.
"Sometimes it's good to face the top teams in the beginning of the season. Last year we beat Chelsea in the first game, so hopefully we'll be able to do it again."
The Reds enter 2023-24 with seven summer additions to their squad and a solid pre-season under their belt.
They also have a new day-to-day base to benefit from after the team moved their operations to the iconic AXA Melwood Training Centre.
"I think the pre-season has been really good overall, I have really enjoyed it," Koivisto said.
"I like our team a lot. The new players have settled in really well and this facility also really makes a difference."
A WSL-record crowd is expected for today's 2pm BST kick-off versus the Gunners, with more than 51,000 tickets sold so far.
Koivisto is especially looking forward to seeing the dedicated Liverpool support that will travel down to the capital.
She finished: "Our fans are amazing. I think it makes a difference on the field when you hear them cheering for you. We are really thankful for our fans."
