InterviewDarwin Nunez: It’s a very competitive league, but it's up to us to turn it around
Darwin Nunez says it is down to the Liverpool squad to work hard and ensure they improve together to turn recent results around.
The Reds head to Molineux Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers in Premier League action.
Jürgen Klopp’s outfit are searching for their first victory in the top flight this calendar year, having also seen their defence of the Emirates FA Cup come to a close at Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Nunez concedes there have been some difficult experiences in recent weeks, but knows he and his teammates must battle through and continue to fight amid adversity.
“There have been highs and lows,” Nunez told Premier League Productions.
“We have won a couple of games and then gone and lost – ups and downs.
"We have been on a bad run, it’s not a great time for us at the moment. Lots of players are injured too, Luis Diaz for example.
“He’s a fundamental player for us, so important in the position he plays in. Hopefully they’ll be back soon and together we can end this bad run.
“I always dreamed about playing in Europe. Now I am here in the Premier League. It is a very strong and competitive league. I will keep adapting over time. I already feel like I have adapted quite well to the league. I hope everything goes well for me here over the next few months and years.”
On what is required to improve on recent results, he said: "We are creating a lot of chances but not scoring. We also need to change our mentality a bit too when we’re playing. It’s nothing more than that.
“As I said before, it’s a very competitive league. We have a lot of games ahead of us. Hopefully we will win, play well and win our remaining games and we have a good chance of finishing in the top four.
“It depends on us and how we play. We have to be motivated and want to win. Hopefully that’s how it will end.”
