Curtis Jones took immense satisfaction from the three points earned and his contribution in Liverpool's 2-0 victory at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

Jones came off the bench in the 61st minute to assist Mohamed Salah's stunning second goal at Vitality Stadium that wrapped up the win over the in-form Cherries.

The No.17's half-hour cameo was his comeback from a knee injury that saw him sidelined for the Reds' previous two matches.

Afterwards, a delighted Jones spoke to Liverpoolfc.com – read on to see what he had to say…

Curtis, does it feel like quite a significant win given their form of late?

It was an important game. We always have to win games, of course we do, there's teams that are close in the league that are winning games as well. I think that every game is important. Of course they're a team that's in great form and the style of play is hard to play against. But we did well and came away with the win, so that's the important thing.

Given Bournemouth are a side that keep going and challenging, how important was that second goal that you had a hand in?

It's huge. Away from home, the fans can smell a little bit of blood. I wouldn't say that we took our foot off the gas but I think a team like them, they're going to find a way back into the game – they came close. But then I came on the pitch, I got an assist as well and [helped] change the game, so I'm happy with that as well.

It wasn't just that. A few moments later, you were back in to cut a pass out...

I'm just a lad who loves to play the game. If I start the game, if I don't, I want to impact the game as much as I can. I want to score more goals, I want to assist more goals, I want to help the team even more. I don't just want to be a lad that's here because I'm part of the team and to see games out. It shows the trust as well that I've got. I had a small injury on my MCL, I'm back after 10 days out and I've come in and impacted the game. That's what I try to do.

It's been a theme this season that players have come into the side and contributed at different times. Is that something you've started to speak about and how this campaign is a real team effort?

The gaffer has spoken about that as well. We play so many games – game after game – and we need the whole of the squad. I think that's an important thing why we're doing well as well. There's guys that need a break because they're playing a load of games, they're coming off the pitch and the lads who are coming on are doing well. If you start, if you don't start, you just know that you're a part of the team. It's a family thing and we're in this as one – and that's what we're showing as well. I hope that it continues.
