Watch: Young Reds inspire fans to take #iwillLFC social action pledge
Local youngsters are encouraging fans to make a positive difference this week by making the #iwillLFC pledge, a show of commitment empowering people to create lasting change within their communities.
Inspired by the club’s history and core values, young Reds have been finding their voice and making a difference through LFC Foundation’s #iwill programme. Now, they are asking fellow supporters to do the same by making the #iwillLFC pledge.
LFC Foundation’s #iwill programme is a 12-week, youth-led programme designed to empower children and young people to identify, prioritise and tackle issues within their local communities.
This #iwill week – when thousands of voices across the UK come together in celebrating youth social action – young Reds are inspiring fans across the globe to pledge to make positive change through various acts of kindness, however big or small (and in line with their local COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines).
Social action involves activities such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering, all of which enable young people to make a positive difference in their communities, while developing their own skills and knowledge.
Throughout #iwill week, fans are encouraged to share their social action by uploading their videos or images to social media using #iwillLFC and tagging LFC Foundation.
Matt Parish, director of LFC Foundation, said: “We are absolutely delighted this week to see our local Reds encourage fans at home and across the globe to support youth empowerment by promoting the #iwillLFC pledge.
“Social action is at the heart of the LFC Foundation and we hope that our fanbase – both young and old – pledge their support this #iwill week to instil positive, long-lasting change throughout their communities.”
The #iwill campaign aims to make participation in social action the norm for young people under 20. Only four in 10 young people currently participate in meaningful social action. Those from less affluent communities are much less likely to take part than their wealthier peers. LFC Foundation is passionate about changing this and using the power of the LFC badge to achieve it.
