LFC Foundation hosts School Transition Camp
LFC Foundation ran its first ever 'Primary to Secondary School Transition Camp' at North Liverpool Academy during the last week of the recent summer break.
The three-day camp, which saw 50 children attend ahead of starting secondary school the following week, aimed to help youngsters with the daunting process of transition from primary school.
LFC Foundation coaches and mentors delivered team building activities, orienteering workshops, drama classes and sports sessions to help youngsters to settle in their new school environment.
Children who attended the camp were able to make friends ahead of the new school year, helping to their reduce anxiety levels and improve their mental wellbeing.
Andy Hanlon, LFC Foundation project lead said: "It's been great to put together our first Transition Camp for the youngsters, especially for those who are moving to secondary school with a smaller group of friends.
"We’ve seen kids from different backgrounds interact with new peers, share interests, bond together through collective team effort and become good friends before the school year has even started, which hopefully will reduce the fear and anxiety children can experience when moving from Year 6 to Year 7."
