He smiled for the cameras. He told the press he was ‘The Normal One’ and said he wanted to change the mentality of Reds supporters ‘from doubters to believers’. “If we want, this could be a special day,” he added.
Special? For every Liverpool FC supporter it was life-changing. In seven years, Klopp has delivered seven trophies, taken the Reds to nine cup finals and built a team featuring some of the greatest players ever to wear the Liver bird upon their chests.
All kinds of records have been smashed and some of the football his teams have played, the goals they have scored and the moments we’ve lived have given adrenaline rushes that truly had to be experienced to be believed.
And Klopp’s Liverpool didn’t just bring that elusive first Premier League trophy to Anfield, they won it by an absolute mile. While they were reigning champions of Europe, UEFA Super Cup holders and FIFA Club World Cup winners for the first time.
The FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield have all since followed, so to mark seven years of Klopp being Liverpool FC manager a new book - I Feel Fine - is being released on Thursday October 20.
Co-written by Liverpool FC magazine and matchday programme writer Chris McLoughlin, and Roy Gilfoyle, who edited 1990s fanzine Another Vintage Liverpool Performance and LFC Weekly Magazine, I Feel Fine features 100 memorable moments, memories and characteristics from the Klopp era.
It’s not just about the Liverpool manager, but Liverpool players, Liverpool coaches and Liverpool supporters. It isn’t exhaustive either, rather a collection of 100 things that have given inspiration, joy and a sense of belonging to the greatest club in the world.
This official Liverpool FC book is available to pre-order right now here.
