ReactionCody Gakpo: We only think about the next game - it keeps us working hard
The Reds secured a 3-1 comeback victory over Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day to move further clear at the summit of the top flight with a game also in hand.
Gakpo levelled the contest with the Foxes on the stroke of half-time after Jordan Ayew had put the visitors in front in the sixth minute.
Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah then struck following the interval to ensure Arne Slot's men would take the win and maintain their strong recent form.
"We only think about the next game," Gakpo told Amazon Prime Video Sport post-match.
"We cannot deny we are in a good place I know, but still, I think one of the strengths of our team, and also of the staff, is that we approach each game as a new one as if we didn't play anyone before. That keeps us humble and working very hard."
On whether they can sustain their form in all competitions amid a busy run of games, he added: "That's why we train, so hopefully yes. We will give everything in each game again. Hopefully we can go far in each competition."

On his goal against Leicester…
We do practise a lot on the crosses and the shots. They always say practice makes perfect. Obviously we [went] behind and we had to fight to get level. We got some good opportunities and some good chances and then I got the ball from Macca [Alexis Mac Allister], and I went inside and I saw some free space and I just did what we do in training.
On going behind in recent games but 'staying calm'...
We know the qualities we have but it's not nice to [fall] behind sometimes. We're working on that; sloppy in the beginning and then maybe more focused. I think we started the game in possession very good, but then we had maybe one or two moments that we were a little bit sloppy, or that we were not focused, and then they made a good goal. We have to keep improving in that part.
On whether he was 'surprised' he was able to cut inside so much against Leicester…
I was a little surprised I think in the first or second action that there was a lot of free space in the middle. But when I sense the space, I just try to take the opportunity to get a cross to maybe the second post to Mo or to Darwin [Nunez], or I can play it to Robbo [Andy Robertson] as well.
On whether he feels 'at home' at Liverpool…
Obviously I feel at home. I think we have a very good team, which makes me accelerate as well and that I can show my qualities and what I'm good at. I keep working hard and trying to show more of that every game.
On the difference in playing style since Slot arrived at Liverpool…
Especially when we have the ball, I think it's a little bit more structured. Maybe it's a little bit less direct and we play more from possession. I think that's maybe the difference.
On keeping up the level of intensity required…
It's difficult to say. I think it's a lot of things. It's sleep, recovery, training sessions and rest. It's all things together. I think even though we have a lot of young players, the staff and older players are helping us to stay very professional and recover very well.
