ReactionCody Gakpo: We have great attacking options - and that is good for the season
The array of attacking options at Jürgen Klopp’s disposal can only benefit Liverpool in the new season, Cody Gakpo feels.
Along with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, Gakpo is one of five senior forwards in Klopp’s squad ahead of 2023-24.
The Netherlands international was joined on the scoresheet by Diaz as the Reds concluded their pre-season tour of Singapore with a 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

And he believes such strength in depth is a major positive as Liverpool seek success on all fronts during a campaign that begins against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on August 13.
Gakpo told Liverpoolfc.com: “We have a lot of options. We have a lot of games so we can choose which option we need for each game. I think we have great options [and] that is good for the season.”
It was Gakpo’s powerful finish that put Liverpool into an early lead versus Bayern, before Virgil van Dijk headed home to increase their advantage just before the half-hour mark.
Goals from Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane pulled the German champions level by half-time, but Diaz made it 3-2 midway through the second period.

However, late strikes by Josip Stanisic and Frans Kratzig earned Bayern a narrow victory.
“I think it was a good test. We showed really good moments and lesser-good moments and we can really build on this game,” Gakpo continued.
“I think it [his goal] was a good start to the game: throw-in on the left-hand side, one-two with Jota, and a good finish I think.”
