NewsChampions League: Draw details for the 2024-25 league phase
Liverpool make their return to the competition, which has been revamped for the new season, after a one-year absence.
The new format will see 36 teams contest the league phase, which replaces the previous group stage. Each side will play eight fixtures against eight different clubs.
For the draw, teams will be seeded into four pots based on their UEFA club coefficients, with the reigning Champions League holders – currently Real Madrid – top seed in Pot 1.
The league phase will consist of the following 36 teams:
AC Milan, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Bologna, Borussia Dortmund, Brest, Celtic, Club Brugge, Dinamo Zagreb, Feyenoord, Girona, Internazionale, Juventus, Lille, Liverpool, Manchester City, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, PSV Eindhoven, RB Leipzig, Real Madrid, Red Bull Salzburg, Red Star Belgrade, Shakhtar Donetsk, Slovan Bratislava, Sparta Prague, Sporting CP, Sturm Graz, Stuttgart, Young Boys.
Each side will be drawn against two opponents from each of the four pots, with one to be faced at home and another away from home, making up their eight fixtures.
In the league phase, the Reds cannot meet a fellow Premier League team. Clubs can be drawn against a maximum of two opponents from the same country.
Dates and kick-off times for Liverpool’s eight league phase matches are due to be announced on Saturday (August 31) and will be available here on Liverpoolfc.com.
The eight matchdays are scheduled for the following dates:
- Matchday 1: September 17/18/19

- Matchday 5: November 26/27
- Matchday 6: December 10/11
