NewsCeri Holland wins LFC Women Player of the Month award
The midfielder was chosen as the team’s outstanding performer in a relatively quiet month for the Reds that included fixtures against West Ham United – in which Holland opened the scoring for Matt Beard’s side in a vital 2-0 win – and Manchester City.
“I couldn’t believe it after that game when Beardy told me how long it was since I’d scored so hopefully this will start a little run,” the No.18 told Liverpoolfc.com as she collected the accolade.
“It’s really nice to win the award as it’s voted for by the fans, who are brilliant. But as with all these things, you couldn’t win anything without the other players out there with you.
“We’re really starting to find our feet in this division, I’m absolutely loving the WSL and I feel that I’m now playing my best football. It’s been great for Beardy to put that trust in me by giving me those minutes on the pitch.”
The 25-year-old Wales international was presented with the Standard Chartered trophy as the squad returned to training on Friday ahead of the resumption of their fixtures.
A trip to face third-placed Manchester United is up first on January 15, before successive weekend visits to face top-of-the-table Chelsea in London – and Holland says it’s a spell the squad are looking forward to.
“We all know it’s going to be a tough month, but we’ve definitely got our eyes on picking up some points in this period,” she added.
“For me, Liverpool just feels like home now and I just wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
