Bobby Clark believes it is a great time to be a young footballer at Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp's guidance.

The 18-year-old midfielder is among a number of Academy players included in the Reds' squad for the ongoing Germany training camp in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Clark featured for 45 minutes in Liverpool's opening friendly of the 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday, playing alongside the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai in midfield for the first half of the 4-2 win over Karlsruher SC.

"It's a great time to be a young footballer here," Clark told Liverpoolfc.com.

"Obviously coming away with the lads, getting good experiences and some good fitness in. It's a lot to take in, but obviously that's what we have to do.

"I've been working hard in the summer and I keep trying to get fitter. I just want to show the manager what I can do. Hopefully I can get more chances.

"It's great, loving it at the moment just doing what I'm doing. Obviously there's loads of good midfielders, hopefully I can get some more chances."

Asked what he was learning being around the senior players, he added: "A lot of things; the way we're playing, there are loads of different bits we're doing in training and it's just getting more experience in men's football."

Clark enjoyed a strong season last term, featuring predominantly for Barry Lewtas' U21s side, having made his Premier League debut in August's 9-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth at Anfield.

He also earned a call-up to England's U18s squad for the first time in September, where he played on the left side of midfield away from his natural home in the middle.

"For England I played out on the left, but I still liked to drift inside. It's still quite similar," Clark said.

"It was a good season; I played a lot of games and a few for England - some in the Youth Cup for the 18s and 21s.

"It was good to play in midfield and back out on the left sometimes. Playing with some of the best players at your age in the country and some good, experienced players in different countries is really good."
