NewsBobby Clark interview: 'That feeling of winning, I'm craving it again already'

The 19-year-old was one of a number of youngsters given a chance at Wembley, as Jürgen Klopp's side produced a memorable performance to see off Chelsea and win their first silverware of the campaign.

For Clark, it was just the ninth game of his professional career, but having experienced such highs already, the England youth international is already looking towards the future.

"That feeling of winning like that, I'm craving it already," he told Liverpoolfc.com ahead of Wednesday's Emirates FA Cup fifth-round clash with Southampton.

"I just want to feel it so many more times in my career. Nothing comes close to that.

"Even before Sunday, we wanted to win everything. Now, it just gives you that hunger to just want to feel that way again, and we want to win everything for the boss."

Clark was introduced by Klopp in the 72nd minute at Wembley, and would go on to play a key role in Liverpool's victory. It was his shot that was deflected behind for the corner from which Virgil van Dijk headed the winning goal.

"It took a while to sink in, if I'm honest," he said, reflecting on his emotions now, a few days on.

"It was obviously an unbelievable day, [and] I couldn't really sleep the night after, but I'm back down to earth now, just about!"

Clark was not the only youngster used by Klopp on the day either, with fellow Academy products Jayden Danns, James McConnell, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher and Conor Bradley also featuring in the game.

"Being out there in the final, with a few of my teammates from the Academy, it was surreal," Clark said.

"When I came on, after my first few touches, I settled into the game. Then I looked over and saw James and Jayden coming on, and I thought, 'Yeah, we've got to go for it now!'

"Especially with James, I've known him since I was really young, when he was at Sunderland and I played for Newcastle.

"When I saw him and then Dannsy as well, it gave me a confidence boost. It's an unbelievable moment, us three on the pitch together after playing in the Academy together."

On Klopp's faith in his young players, Clark added: "The amount of chances that he gives out to us youngsters, it's unbelievable.

"Even just the other day, so many youngsters were given the opportunity on such a big stage. He could have easily just stayed with the 11 on the pitch, even though they were tired, but he showed faith in us, and I'm grateful for that."

And with games coming thick and fast, across three competitions, Clark is now hoping for further opportunities to show what he can do, starting against Southampton.

"Hopefully I get the chance," he said. "Anfield, especially under the lights, is special."

He continued: "Being injured at the start of the season, I missed out on some games that I would have featured in. But from now until the end of the season, I want to make sure I'm around it all the time.

"And not just coming off the bench – I want to make an impact and help the team too."
