Reds return to Alder Hey for annual Christmas visit
A number of Liverpool's senior squad made a welcome return to the city's Alder Hey Children's Hospital this week, attending a special Christmas party for patients and their families.
Mohamed Salah, Joel Matip, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Kostas Tsimikas visited the hospital’s Institute in the Park building to surprise the youngsters and help spread some festive cheer.
The players, alongside members of the Everton squad, met with almost 50 invited Alder Hey patients and their families, gifted bags filled with LFC presents and spent time playing fun party games, posing for images, singing and signing autographs.
For the past two years the Reds’ Christmas visits have taken place virtually due to ongoing restrictions in place at the hospital that prohibited in-person visits following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’ve been away for the past two years because of COVID but we are back now and it’s only right that we come here and give back,” said Jones. “We appreciate the staff and are so grateful for all they do.”
Salah added: “It’s important to show the kids and the community that you always want to help them and make them smile. It’s something that makes me happy as well.”
