LFC Foundation moves to Anfield Sports and Community Centre
Liverpool Football Club's official charity, the Liverpool FC Foundation, has moved to the state-of-the-art Anfield Sports and Community Centre (ASCC) and they were delighted to welcome Lucas Leiva as one of the very first visitors at their new base.
The LFC Foundation has shown a commitment to the regeneration of Anfield by coming home to its roots back into the heart of the community.
The redevelopment of the ASCC was part of the '4 Football 4 Everyone' project and has been funded by a number of supporting partners including Liverpool Football Club, Liverpool City Council, the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund – facilitated by the Football Foundation, Sport England and the Johan Cruyff Foundation in conjunction with the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The redeveloped centre will support the growth of LFC Foundation's football programmes, creating a hub for their activities in North Liverpool.
The Foundation already has a successful track record of delivering programmes in the area, and the partnership with ASCC will improve the current coaching provision at the centre – helping to support the project’s sustainability.
To celebrate the move, Liverpool FC Foundation ambassador Lucas met with the team to take a tour of the newly-built offices. The Brazilian international also took time out to visit five of the community sessions delivered by the LFC Foundation at the centre during the week.
Commenting on the move to the ASCC, Lucas said: "It is fantastic that the LFC Foundation has moved to the heart of the Anfield community. The work of the Foundation is so important and offers people of the city of Liverpool opportunities to get involved in physical activity and sport."
Head of LFC Foundation, Andrea Cooper, added: "We are delighted to announce the relocation of the LFC Foundation team to Anfield Sports and Community Centre.
"The club has been a key funding partner in this important redevelopment and, with many of our community activities within North Liverpool already delivered through the Foundation from this centre, it makes perfect sense for the ASCC to become the official home of our community delivery department.
"This move will help the team build on the fantastic work they already undertake within the community and will help create a real hub for our ongoing work in and around the Anfield area."
