NewsAndy Robertson describes emotions after returning from injury in Rangers win

The left-back made his first appearance in more than a month after fully recovering from the issue he sustained in the Champions League defeat away to Napoli in September.

Robertson came on in the 68th minute to replace Kostas Tsimikas, and detailed his relief to be back out on the pitch to reporters post-match.

The No.26 said: "It's been five weeks, it's not too long for the outside world but for someone who is not used to being out injured it is a long, long time.

"It was important to take time and let the injury heal and then it was about the rehab and trying to get back as quickly as I can. That's always the way.

"I am not a very good patient, I wanted to get out of the treatment room as quickly as possible but I had to be careful with this one and I am just glad to be back to fitness. Hopefully that's all behind me now."

The Reds recorded their third Group A victory in emphatic style in Glasgow, thanks to Mohamed Salah's historic hat-trick, along with efforts from Roberto Firmino (two), Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott.

Robertson hopes a similar level of performance can be replicated when reigning champions Manchester City visit Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Scot continued: "The game against Manchester City this weekend will always be difficult. They're a fantastic side and they are flying at the minute.

"It will be difficult to play against them but us at our best we can always compete. Anything below that and it will be a difficult afternoon.

"But if we're at our best then we know we can cause problems to any team and that is what we have to aim for.

"It was an exceptional result [at Rangers] and a big result for us. The boys were magnificent after a bit of a ropey start, obviously giving Rangers the lead and the fans obviously got up.

"We managed to quiet them down quickly with the equaliser and then after that I thought we dominated and really controlled the game."
