The Klopp era came to a conclusion at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as the Reds defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 in his final match.

Alisson has been a key figure in the success achieved under Klopp – seven major trophies including Premier League and Champions League glory – since joining the club in 2018.

And after the game, the goalkeeper spoke to Sky Sports about his appreciation for Klopp and the boss’ influence on him personally and the club overall.

On how he will remember Klopp’s time as Liverpool manager…

Well, Jürgen is a special one. He said when he came here he is ‘The Normal One’ but he is definitely a special one for us, for the players who played under his leadership. I think he is a natural leader. His passion, his desire to win things, to achieve things. But he doesn’t do things thinking about achievements, he thinks about the personal side of the players. He wants to do everything and the players feel good to play for his team. I will have so many memories, good memories. I’m so thankful and grateful that I had the opportunity to work under Jürgen Klopp.

On Klopp’s influence on him joining the club in 2018…

His importance is massive. When I came here, I was turning 26 years old, now I’m turning 32. I had two kids here, so many things happened in my life, achieved a few trophies, arrived in the highest level of football, playing in the Premier League. And his importance is massive. Every day, everything he did for the players, for the club. He is responsible, he needs to get all the credit. He says about the staff, the staff have credit as well, all the time he is not talking about himself but he made it possible. So that’s why we will always give him a lot of credit for all the things we achieved and for all the memories.

On his 2021 header against West Bromwich Albion being the manager’s favourite goal of his tenure…

Yeah! That’s a good one, hey? We had a lot of good goals, amazing goals. I think it was a pretty good header, no?!

On what Klopp did to inspire the players to produce so many memorable moments…

He created a new mentality here at the club. It’s about that. The players he brought in during the process, all the players have a little bit of this mentality but when we arrive here at this club, everything that is happening around all the staff, all the players that work at the club, that are involved, have this kind of mentality, no matter the role they have at the club. We players come here on the pitch and we have to perform, but coming with the right mentality is important as well. He was massive in creating this mentality in every player.
