ReactionAlexis Mac Allister: There are plenty of positives to take from Germany trip
Alexis Mac Allister feels Liverpool can take plenty of positives from their pre-season training camp in Germany, which concluded with Monday’s 4-4 draw with Greuther Furth.
The Reds stepped up their preparations for 2023-24 with a 10-day stay in the town of Donaueschingen, with the trip also including last Wednesday’s 4-2 friendly win over Karlsruher SC.
Monday’s behind-closed-doors game against Greuther Furth featured goals from Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez (two) and Mohamed Salah and new signing Mac Allister believes Jürgen Klopp’s squad can be satisfied with the work they put in while away.

The No.10 told Liverpoolfc.com post-match: “It’s a pre-season game. Of course we always want to win, but that’s not the most important thing. We know we have to improve in a couple of things but it’s good to get some minutes in the tank.
“There is a lot of positive things [to take from the camp]. I am a new player so I still have to know my teammates, their strengths and their weaknesses, but I think there are really good players here and we can build something important.
“The welcome from the team was amazing and they are helping me every day so I can do my best on the pitch, so it’s a really good team. We all try to help each other inside the pitch and that’s very important for our goal, and we will try our best to do a very good season.”

When asked whether he feels fitter and readier for the season following the camp, Mac Allister replied: “Yes of course, of course. It’s a tough pre-season but we all know that this part is very important for the season. So as you can see, three sessions is not easy every day but we are doing it as well and overall it’s a very good pre-season.”
Liverpool’s next pre-season friendly takes place on Sunday when they will play Leicester City at Singapore’s National Stadium, with a meeting with Bayern Munich to follow three days later at the same venue.
Mac Allister continued: “We know that as Liverpool players there is a lot of people that is waiting for us so Singapore will be another great experience for us, with two games, very important. So as I say, we will try to improve every day and I think it will be a very good two games there.”
