NewsAlexis Mac Allister: I'm putting emphasis on improving my numbers

The Argentina international scored his second goal of the season to break the deadlock in last week’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Real Madrid.

Completing a one-two with Conor Bradley around the edge of the box, Mac Allister slid a low finish beyond Thibaut Courtois in front of the Kop.

He had previously been on target against Bologna in early October, and the No.10 has a self-set objective of delivering more goal contributions as the Reds lead the way in both the Premier League and Europe.

“Dreams are there to be fulfilled,” Mac Allister reflected on that personal moment versus Real.

“I have been achieving things that even in my best dreams I could not have imagined and I am very happy for my present. I enjoy it very much and I am grateful for life. It was special to beat a club like Real Madrid, with so much history and with the team that they have, the players and the individuals that they have.

“It’s up to me to continue. I like to score goals, I like to assist. I also want to put some emphasis on that, on improving my numbers. I think I can do that.

“So, I’m happy for what I’m achieving, but at the same time I always want a little bit more.”

That defeat of Real was followed with a win by the same scoreline when Manchester City visited Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arne Slot’s side hold a nine-point advantage domestically, ahead of travelling to Newcastle United for fixture No.14 at St. James’ Park this evening.

“The truth is that we are in a great moment,” said Mac Allister. “We have been feeling great.

“We have played against two of the best teams in the world in the last week and we have done a great job. We have achieved very important results, so we are happy.

“But we are already focusing on Wednesday’s game because as we always say, there is no rest, we just have to win and think about the next game.”
