FeatureAldridge, Salah, Sturridge and more: Liverpool's best goalscoring streaks

The striker netted from the penalty spot as Kenny Dalglish’s legendary 1987-88 team swatted Queens Park Rangers aside 4-0 at Anfield on October 17, 1987.

That was the Reds’ ninth First Division match of the season and Aldridge notched in all nine, as well as having done so on the final day of the previous campaign. The Scouser’s remarkable feat still stands as a club record.

Aldridge is among a group of nine Liverpool players to have scored in six or more successive league fixtures and is one of only two – along with his idol, the great Roger Hunt – to have done so more than once.

Robert Robinson was the first ever to find the target half a dozen times in a row for the club, with his run 120 years ago including 10 goals.

Two decades later, the prolific Dick Forshaw set a new high standard by netting in eight consecutive league outings amid a run of 16 strikes in 12 appearances.

Aldridge’s exploits of the late 1980s remain unsurpassed, though Daniel Sturridge and Mohamed Salah have each racked up a figure of seven in the modern era.

The latter delivered his goal glut in the early months of 2021-22, culminating with a sensational hat-trick during a 5-0 triumph away at Manchester United.
