Layton Stewart has signed a new contract with Liverpool FC.

The 17-year-old forward finished his first season with the U18s with 16 goals despite an ankle injury bringing it to a premature end.

His final appearance of the season was in January and saw him score a hat-trick against Sunderland.

Blessed with natural quickness and an instinctive ability in front of goal, Stewart’s performances saw him sign his first professional contract earlier this year.

The Scouser scored vital goals for the U19 UEFA Youth League team which topped its group and also graduated into the U23 squad, where he played in the Leasing.com Trophy fixtures against Fleetwood Town and Accrington Stanley.

In December, Stewart was on the bench as a young Liverpool side took on Aston Villa in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.

Stewart has been with the Reds since the age of seven and has trained with the first team at Melwood on a number of occasions.
