News2024 in stats: Who scored, assisted and played most for Liverpool?
The Reds wrapped up the past 12 months of games by beating West Ham United 5-0 at London Stadium on Sunday, consolidating their status as Premier League leaders.
It was a year that began with an emphatic 4-2 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield on January 1 and included Carabao Cup joy at Wembley in February.
And, of course, there was a major change in the dugout as Jürgen Klopp departed after almost nine years as manager, replaced by Arne Slot as new head coach in the summer.
Nobody made more appearances in all competitions across 2024 than Cody Gakpo, with the forward featuring in 56 games in total.
In joint-second were Alexis Mac Allister and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, who were each involved in 53 matches, ahead of Luis Diaz (52) and Darwin Nunez (50).
Van Dijk was unmatched for the Reds in the Premier League specifically, the Dutchman making 37 appearances in the top flight during the year.
Sharing second place on that list were Diaz, Gakpo and Mac Allister on 36 apiece, followed by Andy Robertson and Nunez on 32 games.
Mohamed Salah, of course, led the way for goals scored. The Egyptian plundered 29 in all competitions in 2024, with 20 of those netted since the new campaign began in August.
Diaz and Gakpo were each on target against West Ham at the weekend, which took both forwards up to 20 goals in all competitions for the year. Nunez and Diogo Jota also achieved double figures with 14 and 12 strikes respectively.
Salah was also the chief provider of assists, the No.11 totalling 23 throughout the year, including 16 in Premier League fixtures.
Harvey Elliott was the next-best for setting up a teammate as the No.19 tallied 10 assists, edging Nunez into third place on nine. Gakpo registered eight assists and Mac Allister and Conor Bradley each got seven.
In the league, eight Reds totalled at least five assists across the year: Salah (16), Diaz (six), Gakpo (six), Mac Allister (six), Trent Alexander-Arnold (five), Elliott (five), Jota (five), Nunez (five).
