The teams are meeting in the Carabao Cup for the second season in a row, having previously not clashed in the competition since 1988.

Liverpool were 5-1 winners over the Hammers at Anfield in the quarter-finals last term. Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones (two), Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah got the goals.

The current holders, the Reds have lifted this trophy more times than anyone else (10) and have appeared in a record 14 finals.

Liverpool have won each of their last eight games against West Ham at Anfield in all competitions. The club record is nine, set between 1967 and 1973.

The Reds have scored in each of their last 18 fixtures with the Hammers since a goalless FA Cup tie in L4 back in January 2016.

Only Manchester City in 2022 have beaten Liverpool in normal time in this competition since Aston Villa defeated a youthful team in 2019.

Eight of Liverpool's 13 goals this season have been scored before half-time.

All five of Luis Diaz's goals this season have been scored before the interval, while each of Salah's three have come in the second half.

The Reds have been involved in 15 League Cup penalty shootouts, winning 11. The last came against Derby County in November 2022.

Caoimhin Kelleher has saved more penalties for Liverpool in shootouts (six) than any other Reds goalkeeper in history.

Kelleher and Joe Gomez are the most seasoned League Cup players currently at the club – each with 15 appearances.

Gomez could play the 250th game of his club career in all competitions.

Jones has scored the most goals (five) in this competition within the current squad. Diogo Jota and Gakpo are next best with four each.

Liverpool have previously played seven times in the League Cup on September 25. They have won five and drawn once, with the only defeat coming at Manchester United in 2013.

West Ham advanced from round two by beating AFC Bournemouth 1-0 at home, with Jarrod Bowen the goalscorer.

Bowen scored in all three meetings between the teams last season.

The Hammers, along with Liverpool, hold the competition record for biggest victory. They beat Bury 10-0 in 1983, which the Reds equalled three years later by defeating Fulham by the same score.
