Liverpool FC Women are checking on Teagan Micah’s availability for Sunday’s Anfield meeting with Manchester City.

The Reds goalkeeper has recently been sidelined with an ankle issue, though could come back into contention for the 3pm BST kick-off in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Matt Beard will remain without Grace Fisk and Ceri Holland, however, in addition to Sofie Lundgaard, who requires surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained last weekend.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Beard said: “Grace is still out, Ceri is still out and obviously we’ve lost Sofie.

“Zara [Shaw] and Eva [Spencer] are away with England [U17s]. So, we’re stretched, especially in midfield. So, we’ve brought Maddy Duffy up from our academy, who has sort of been in and out of the first-team group for the last six months.

“And then we’ll check on Teagan probably tomorrow, see how she reacts to today.”

Asked for an update on Lundgaard, the boss said: “Obviously she’s upset and down. But I think now that she’s obviously had a scan and we know what it is now – we saw the surgeon yesterday – the next stage is to support her through the next few weeks before she has the operation.

“She seems in good spirits, to be fair. Obviously the first 24 to 48 hours are tough but she seems back in good spirits. We’ll be there for her to help her through the process.

“She was in the gym this morning when I came in, and she’ll be fine. The next stage is to get the operation. The surgeon said to wait four or five weeks.

“We’ll support her through that process and keep her involved as much as we can.”
