Sebastian Coates was brought to Liverpool from Nacional in August 2011 having been voted the best young player at that year's Copa America.
Standing at a towering 6ft 6in, the Uruguay international arrived with a reputation for commanding aerial displays - both defensively and offensively.
He made 12 appearances during his debut season with the Reds, the highlight being a sensational acrobatic volley against Queens Park Rangers.
The defender again featured a dozen times in 2012-13, Brendan Rodgers' first season as manager.
But any hopes of Coates establishing himself under the Northern Irishman were hindered by an injury that ruined the following year.
He then spent 2014-15 on loan with Sunderland and subsequently completed a permanent switch to the Black Cats in July 2015.
