Signed in September 1968, Phil Boersma made his Liverpool league debut almost exactly a year later at West Bromwich Albion.
But he only made three more league appearances that season, plus two runouts in cup competitions.
Boersma never really established himself as a first-team regular at Anfield but was always a good squad player and scored a number of important goals for the club, including four during the successful UEFA Cup run of 1972-73. He also netted seven times in the league that season as the Reds won the title.
The forward's most productive spell at the club came at the start of the 1974-75 season when he scored 10 goals in five weeks.
He departed to join Middlesbrough in late 1975.
