Emiliano Insua spent just over four years at Liverpool after arriving from Boca Juniors in January 2007.

<p>The left-back's initial 18-month loan was eventually made permanent and he soon progressed from the reserves into a first-team regular.</p><p>His senior debut came against Portsmouth on April 28, 2007, though much of the following season was spent helping the Reds' second string win the league.</p><p>It wasn't until 2008-09 that Insua began cementing his place in Rafael Benitez's plans, notching 13 appearances despite competition from Fabio Aurelio and Andrea Dossena.</p><p>He continued to impress in 2009-10 and scored his first goal for Liverpool with a long-range volley in the Carling Cup fourth-round tie with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.</p><p>Following the appointment of Roy Hodgson to replace Benítez as manager, in August 2010 the Reds confirmed Insua had joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan.</p><p>He returned to Melwood the following summer but then completed a permanent move to Sporting CP in August 2011.</p>
