Doug McAvoy signed for Liverpool from his hometown club Kilmarnock in December 1947.
He was 29 years old at the time he joined and he struggled to earn a place in the defending champions' team, making only a single appearance for the Reds in the rest of the season during which he had arrived.
That debut came when Stoke City visited Anfield on January 3, 1948.
The same thing happened the following season too - just a solitary appearance against Chelsea in October 1948.
He featured on the left wing at Liverpool, but his best years were played in Scotland with Kilmarnock.
