Past playersAlan Waddle
Years: 1973-1977
Appearances: 22
Goals: 1
Honours: European Cup (1977)
A tall forward who was a deputy to John Toshack, Alan Waddle only scored once in his 22 appearances for Liverpool.
It was a memorable goal, though – the winner in a Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in December 1973.
Waddle had been signed from Halifax Town in the summer of 1973, ahead of what would be Bill Shankly's final season as Reds manager.
Opportunities dwindled after he made 16 appearances during his first campaign, though he was on the bench on the night Liverpool lifted the European Cup for the first time, in Rome in 1977.
He switched to Leicester City in September of that year.
