On Target Extra is an 8-week evidence-based mental health programme, that uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy informed sessions to improve the lives of young people, the programme is funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund

The Programme focuses on enabling young people to recognise, challenge and change their negative thoughts, feelings, and actions through use of various techniques. The programme supports students in high schools across Merseyside.

The program uses psychometric tools to determine eligibility and ensure that the young people that are in need of mental health intervention are a priority.

To accommodate learning needs for the students, we deliver the programme at the same time and in the same location each week to encourage regular attendance and continuous learning.

Since the start of the On Target programme we have engaged over 1200 students onto the core programme across 20 secondary schools. We work in partnership with the schools to ensure the we can meet the needs of each young person and deliver a whole school approach to supporting mental health.

The sessions are based around a different aspect of mental health including self-esteem, team building, confidence and mindfulness to create a toolkit for students to better their wellbeing.

Our passion and commitment to supporting young people is evidenced through this initiative. The On Target programme truly encompasses the LFC Foundations mission and reflects the club’s values.
