Emile Heskey has agreed to extend his stay Down under for another season after signing a new one-year deal with Australian outfit Newcastle Jets.
The former England international has been a big success since his switch to the A-League last summer, scoring nine goals in 23 appearances.
Heskey, 35, has agreed in principle to play the 2013-14 season with the Jets and the club says a formal announcement is expected in the next few days.
"I'm pleased to be extending my stay in Newcastle for another year," said Heskey, speaking to the club's official website.
"Everyone has made me feel very welcome here and I've really enjoyed my first season playing for the Jets.
"I'm looking forward to getting a full pre-season under my belt and helping the team push for a finals place next season."
The news has delighted the Aussie side and head coach Gary van Egmond added: "It's great to have Emile here for another season.
"He brings a wealth of experience to our squad with everything he's achieved in his career.
"His performances in his first season with us were excellent and we're looking forward to seeing more of the same from him next year."
As one of the competition's marquee players this season with Sydney FC's Alessandro Del Piero and Western Sydney Wanderers' Shinji Ono, Heskey has helped the A-League achieve a record regular-season attendance of 1.67 million.
Del Piero and Ono have also re-signed contracts to keep them in Australia next season.
Sydney FC and Newcastle did not make the playoffs. Ono led the Wanderers to first place in their inaugural year.
The former Liverpool, Leicester, Birmingham, Wigan and Aston Villa striker missed out on the club's Player of the Year award, however, with the honour going to 21-year-old Jets goalkeeper Mark Birighitti.
