Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp appears to be closing in on a move for Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain.

The Reds boss is set to remodel his squad this summer and is believed to be keen on taking the 28-year-old striker to Anfield.

Reports emerged last night that a deal was in the works.

American outlet beIN Sports USA claimed the switch could be completed as soon as Higuain's current side confirm Hector Herrera's arrival from Porto.

Higuain excelled in Serie A last season, netting 36 goals in 35 appearances.

That record equalled Gino Rossetti's Italian top-flight scoring record, set during the 1928-29 campaign.
