'Lallana's comeback could be a massive boost for us'
A timely return for Adam Lallana at Watford next Monday would be a 'massive' boost for Liverpool, according to Ragnar Klavan.
The England international stepped up his recovery from a thigh injury out on the Melwood training pitches last week, with the trip to Vicarage Road the target for his comeback.
Lallana has not featured for the Reds since the draw with Manchester City on March 19 and, once ready, would be a welcome addition to the options available for Jürgen Klopp.
“It could be massive,” Klavan told Liverpoolfc.com this afternoon. “Every player who comes back is needed for us and gives us more options in the squad.
“His pace and capacity in the game is really vital for us. He is a really good player and a really good person. He helps us a lot, especially with four hard games to go.”
Klavan has missed the past two matches himself with a ligament injury, but is hopeful of being back in contention for the upcoming clash with the Hornets.
“It is better now – I have started to train with the squad. It looks like it is fine,” the Estonian explained of his fitness.
“You never know in life, but the injury is a lot better now. I have trained once with the squad and on other occasions with the fitness coach. Everything is going as planned, so that is nice.”
Liverpool will journey south to Watford with determination to respond to the disappointment of their 2-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Having led the game through Philippe Coutinho, a double from Christian Benteke served a blow to the Reds’ hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Klavan acknowledged the frustration felt among the players, but believes the tenacity in the group can come into play as they attempt to bounce back quickly.
He added: “This is the strength of our team and our squad.
“We really do have amazing quality players, plus we have good characters. This is really vital for the team to keep on fighting, even if the situation looks bad or is not good. We just keep on moving forward.
“We are still confident.
“It’s not easy the next day, straight after that kind of a game. But that’s how it is. We just have to stick together, be a really good team and at the end of the season if we achieve the position we want, it will taste even better.”
