'I’m really happy to see him being a very important player for LFC'
Dejan Lovren deserves great credit for working on his game and establishing himself as a vital cog in Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool machine.
That is the view of former Red Igor Biscan, who played alongside Lovren during the defender’s time at his first club, Dinamo Zagreb.
Lovren has started the season in fine form, with his burgeoning central-defensive partnership with Joel Matip providing Liverpool with a solid platform at the back.
The Croatia international’s late, late winner against Borussia Dortmund last season will go down in Liverpool folklore, and Biscan is delighted to see his compatriot doing well at Anfield.

“I know him really well, we played together when he was at Dinamo early in his career,” Biscan says, in the second episode of new LFCTV series ‘Added Time, which premieres at 7.30pm BST this evening.
“I’m really happy to see him playing well and being a very important player for the club.
“I saw his goal against Borussia Dortmund last season. It was the perfect finish to the perfect game, and these are the moments in life that will stay with you forever.
“He’s been through some difficult moments like most players do, but he came out of it a better player and now he’s an important player for the manager, and of course I wish him all the best for the future.”
