Mignolet penalty save sets LFC record in Premier League
Simon Mignolet today set a new Liverpool record for penalty saves in the Premier League era.
With the score still goalless against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, the Belgian pushed out Theo Walcott’s spot-kick.
The Arsenal forward did hit the target seconds later but it was the Reds who ultimately took the three points with a 4-3 win in their opening game of the season.
Mignolet’s first-half save was his fifth from a penalty in the league since he signed for the club in 2013, setting an outright record ahead of David James (four).
