Ragnar Klavan: Why Anfield is the place to be
Ragnar Klavan has revealed how his first taste of Anfield last season ensured he wanted to make Liverpool his new home this summer - and LFCTV GO subscribers can watch our exclusive interview with the new signing on demand now.
The Estonian completed a switch to the Reds from Augsburg on Wednesday, less than six months on from the two clubs meeting on Merseyside in the second leg of a Europa League Round of 32 tie.
Klavan and his colleagues could not halt the progress of Jürgen Klopp's team on that occasion, as James Milner's penalty proved the difference on the night and on aggregate.
But the defender did take one positive from the evening - the famous Anfield atmosphere which he will now get to sample on a more regular basis.
When asked how playing in front of the Kop compares to running out at other stadiums, Klavan said: "I think it’s more the feeling you get when you walk on the pitch.
"It’s a compact stadium, but there’s so much history in there, this is what excites me more.
"These days a lot of teams have really new stadiums which look good and everything is clean; but Anfield, it’s not the newest, but it’s the place to be."
