The Great Dane Jan Molby was one of the best passers of a ball to ever wear the red jersey. A key player in the double-success 30 years ago this month, he gives his thoughts on the final.

“I want to say good luck to Jürgen Klopp and the boys. They have done extremely well to get to this final when you consider the sheer number of games they have had to play to get to this final.

“No final is easy and it will be extremely difficult, but I’ve got a feeling that we are on an upward curve and things are looking good. We are playing at a good tempo and we have nearly everybody fit.

“Good luck, we are going to need it, but it’s going to be wonderful if we can win it.

“I think this game is a little bit similar to when we played Villarreal in the semi-final. If we play like we did at Anfield and get at them, don’t allow them to settle and don’t allow them to get into a rhythm, then we will be alright.

“We know Sevilla haven’t been in great form, but we know they can play and they haven’t won this competition two years in a row for nothing, so it’s a case of not allowing them to get into their rhythm and kind of shock them almost.

“We need to play at a tempo they are not used to and if we can do that then I think it could have the same effect as it did on Villarreal when they came to Anfield.”
