No.9: Dietmar Hamann
Next up is the man they called the 'Kaiser' and a major inspiration behind Liverpool's miracle of Istanbul, Dietmar Hamann.
The German international was signed for Newcastle United from Bayern Munich by Kenny Dalglish in 1998. But with Ruud Gullit soon to arrive, it would be a very short spell working with the Anfield legend.
It was Gerard Houllier who swooped to sign Hamann for the Reds from Newcastle in the summer of 1999.
After becoming a Kop hero, his shining moment came in May 2005 when his half-time appearance from the substitutes' bench helped stem the flow of a vociferous AC Milan attack and provide the safety net for one of Liverpool's most memorable victories of all time.
