Liverpool host top-of-the-table Leicester City at Anfield this afternoon in the Barclays Premier League - here are 15 key facts you should know ahead of the Boxing Day clash from club statistician Ged Rea.

The sides last met on the first day of this year when both teams picked up a point in a 2-2 draw. Liverpool led at half-time through two Steven Gerrard penalties before David Nugent and Jeffrey Schlupp replied within three minutes around the hour mark.

This will be Liverpool's 4,000th top-flight game and their 2,000th at Anfield in Division One/Premier League. They have won 1,853, drawn 996 and lost 1,150. At Anfield they have won 1,198, with 337 defeats and 464 draws.

There have been only three goalless draws in 90 league clashes between the teams, with only one coming at Anfield. That occurred in the 1972-73 season when the point gained was enough to clinch the title for Liverpool.

The Reds’ biggest win over the visitors at Anfield is the 5-1 score they recorded in both 1934-35 and 1976-77.

James Milner scored the first goal of his professional career 13 years ago today in Leeds United's 2-1 win at Sunderland.

The sides have met on Boxing Day three times before. They drew 1-1 at Anfield in 1996, Liverpool won 2-1 at Filbert Street in 1994, while Leicester defeated the Reds by the same scoreline at Anfield in 1984. No home team has won in Boxing Day meetings.

Liverpool's win at Burnley last year was the first in their four most recent Boxing Day outings.

All 37 of Leicester's Premier League goals this season have been scored from inside the penalty area.

They are the only team to score in every Premier League game so far this season and have found the net in 26 of the last 27 top-flight games. The last team to prevent them from scoring were Sunderland on Wearside back in May.

The Reds are unbeaten in the last six league clashes since losing 2-0 at Filbert Street in March 2001, winning four and drawing twice. In the Foxes team that day was Dean Sturridge - uncle of Daniel.

Robbie Fowler is the last Liverpool player to score a hat-trick against Leicester, doing so in a 4-1 win at Filbert Street in October 2001 - they were the last goals for the club in his first spell.

Two Liverpool players have scored Boxing Day hat-tricks. Gordon Hodgson hit three against Burnley at Anfield in 1928, while Roger Hunt went one better, netting four against Stoke City in 1963 - also at home.

City have conceded only 10 goals in their nine Premier League visits to Anfield.

Claudio Ranieri will take charge of a team against the Reds for the 12th time today and for the first time since January 2004. He won four and lost four of his nine meetings as Chelsea boss. Before then, he was coach at Valencia in 1998 when the teams played out two draws in the UEFA Cup with Liverpool progressing on the away goals rule.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last nine Boxing Day home games since losing 1-0 to Manchester United in 1986.
