Williams: Going to the Euros would be special
Jordan Williams admits he thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being on the bench for Wales as his country stand on the brink of qualifying for their first major finals since 1958.
The Liverpool youngster was an unused substitute in last week’s 1-0 win in Cyprus and also during Sunday’s goalless draw with Israel.
Chris Coleman’s side now require just one point from their final two group games with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Andorra to qualify for Euro 2016.
Williams, on a season-long loan at Swindon Town, insists he has learned a lot from his experiences with the senior Welsh set-up.
“It was a good experience for me to go away,” said Williams.
“It’s something different, international football. Playing against Cyprus and Israel obviously, they play different football to how we play over here so it was good.
“It’s massive for Welsh football. We’ve not had this for so many years and I think the time has come now. We need one more point to get through. Hopefully we can get it done. Going to the Euros would be something special.
“They [the senior players] are brilliant. Ashley Williams is one of the best and obviously Gareth Bale is just something special - Aaron Ramsey too. It’s different players to what I had at Liverpool so that was good for me because you learn something different off them as well.”
Williams was at the centre of attention during his time with squad as he is the only player in the squad that can also speak fluent Welsh.
He added: “I had to do one [interview] which is hard because I haven’t spoken it for a while but that’s just part of it.”
