Reds shine in Germany
A party of over 80 Liverpool supporters have recently been in Germany for their sixth 'friendship visit' to Moenchengladbach to once again consolidate and enhance a very special friendship that goes back over 30 years.
Fans of the Reds and Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach established strong links following the teams' meetings in European competition during the 1970s.
Since 1992, a group of Borussia fans have travelled to Anfield every winter to support Liverpool, and Kopites, led by organiser Graham Agg, have journeyed to Moenchengladbach annually since 2007.
Inlcuded amongst the travelling LFC supporters who made the trek to Moenchengladbach, the vast majority were from the Merseyside region but there were also LFC fans from Southampton, Crewe, Wales and Ireland, and a group of Holland Reds from the official LFC Supporters Club in Holland (AIB), and German Reds from the official LFC Supporters Club in Germany(AIB). Amazingly there was also an LFC fan who had came all the way from Brisbane, Australia.
Organiser Graham Agg declared that once again the annual friendship visit was 'a resounding success'.
Agg said: "I would like to thank all the travelling Liverpool supporters for being superb ambassadors for Liverpool Football Club and the city of Liverpool.
"The weekend proved yet again that the Borussia Moenchengladbach and Liverpool FC friendship is absolutely unique in world football."
The Liverpool supporters once again unveiled a friendship flag with the words 'A very special friendship' and also Rob Stott RIP - YNWA. This was in memory of legendary LFC supporter Rob Stott who sadly died this year and was instrumental in helping annual LFC Supporters Moenchengladbach friendship visit organiser Agg planning the annual visits to Gladbach.
The 2012 LFC Supporters annual Moenchengladbach Friendship visit was once again fully endorsed by Liverpool FC. For the sixth consecutive year the LFC PR department presented friendship trip organiser Agg with a gift to present to the Gladbach official supporters Club during the visit to Germany.
Also stadium announcer George Sephton, the longest serving stadium announcer in the world, also sent a gift, a framed message to the Borussia supporter's thanking them for their very special friendship.
It is a friendship that has stood the test of time, and is absolutely unique in world football.
In 1991 a delegation of Borussia supporters flew to Liverpool to present a cheque for 21,000 Deutsch Marks for the Hillsborough families, a gesture that has never been forgotten on Merseyside.
